Prayer for the growth of interior strength through Christ
It becomes plain my Lord, the words of intercession we speak in common prayers: they are not the pleas of human need, but the request for divine assistance for the struggle to become more fully Your Sons and Daughters.
It is from our soul that we pray,
O God, come to my aid.
O Lord, make haste to help me.
The Psalms’ writers speak of conquering the enemy. For them and us, it may be the enemy within, as well. The battles we will join are not often person to person, though they are still good vs. evil. Our battles today are fought more against ideas: abortion, cloning, euthanasia, and –embracing all – moral relativism.
And so we continue on our daily journey, in a strange land, asking the Lord’s direction to our heavenly destination. It is a journey of faith (Hebrews 16:1-11) and a request for divine direction.
Lord, guide our paths in Your ways. May our compass be that faith that we fight to maintain – even at the scale of a mustard seed.
