A sacrifice of praise to God

The God of Abraham was praised and worshiped for guidance He showed His people, the battles won in His name and the rewards earned by faithful service. Fear and honor were the motivations of praise. Then came the Son.

The Son of God was worshiped in anticipation of His Father's deeds in battle for the Israelites. But, no victories of conquest or defense were mounted on His behalf, to the disappointment of many.  The foe He declared was the one within each person -- the self.

Dying out of the love His father showed in defense of all Israel, Christ showed us how to die just to self to achieve heavenly victory. Amen.
